Privacy Policy

Spendly never links to your bank — that’s deliberate. What we do store is what you type or say: transactions, budgets, debts, and category names. Voice recordings are sent to a third-party provider to turn speech into a transaction and aren’t kept afterward. We don’t sell your data or show you ads.

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture.

Financial data you enter.Transactions, categories, budgets, recurring bills, debts, and savings targets — whether typed or spoken.

Voice recordings. When you log an entry by voice, the recording is sent to a third-party provider for speech-to-text transcription, and the resulting text is sent to a third-party provider to be parsed into structured transactions. We store the transcript (to show you what was heard and to improve matching), not the audio itself.

Push notification data. If you enable push notifications, your browser generates a subscription endpoint that we store so we can deliver notices like reminders and partner activity.

Usage data.Basic technical data needed to operate the app — things like rate-limiting counters for voice usage and your selected theme, timezone, and currency preferences.

• To run the app: show your transactions, compute budgets and stats, send reminders and digests.
• To transcribe and parse voice entries into draft transactions you review before saving.
• To operate a paired household: once paired, sharing your full ledger — transactions, budgets, debts, and charts — with your partner.
• To secure the app, including rate-limiting to prevent abuse.

We don’t use your data for advertising, and we don’t sell it to anyone.

Your paired partner.Pairing only happens once both people go through it — one of you sends or enters a pairing code, the other accepts it. Once paired, you and your partner see each other’s full ledger: every transaction, budget, and debt, not only what’s tagged shared. The “Us” / “Just me” tag is for household accounting, not a privacy setting — it doesn’t hide anything from a paired partner.

Service providerswho process data on our behalf and only for the purpose of running Spendly: Google (sign-in), third-party providers for voice transcription and parsing, and our hosting and database providers. We don’t permit them to use your data for their own purposes.

We don’t share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Our voice transcription partner and transcript parsing partner each get only what that one task needs, on a need-to-know basis — the transcription partner receives just the audio, to turn it into text, and the parsing partner receives just that transcript, to turn it into a transaction. Neither gets anything else about you.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Voice audio is not retained past transcription. If you delete your account, your data — including your household’s shared data attributable to you — is permanently deleted, not archived.

You can export everything logged, as a CSV, from Settings. You can delete your account at any time from Settings or directly at spendly.wtf/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and permanent, with no recovery window.

Spendly uses a small number of first-party cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your theme preference. We don’t use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

Spendly isn’t directed at children, and you must be at least 18 years old to use it. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
